SCRAPBOOKING, FRIENDS, CLASSES AND...
calzones as big as my head. Seriously.
And that was just Friday!
The Phoenix Creating Keepsakes scrapbook convention was this past weekend - and what a weekend it was. Taught a couple of new classes for QuicKutz, got to hang with my girls Amy and Shelly and managed to see a bunch of old friends.
Friday started out kindof crazy, because we had to leave our houses so dang early. None of us are used to the early morning Phoenix commute, so we erred on the side of caution, and left extra early. And it turned out to be a great thing we did.
When we got to the convention center, I found out that I did not have a TA for my morning class. So I kicked it in high gear to get set up in time. Had a great bunch of ladies in class - my presentation went smoothly and I'm pretty sure everyone left extremely happy! Always a good thing!
All the rest of the day, the floor was busy, people were happy, money was changing hands and the QK love was flowing all around. Amy is just as big of a QK fan as I am, so she was doing a great job of pointing out all of the "must haves" and the "don't leave withouts"...good job Amy! And Shelly was holding down the financial end of the booth...thanks Shelly! It was a great team effort - much appreciated girls! Seriously!
The best way to get through the busy times of the day is to focus on what we're going to do for dinner. Trust me - it works! And my Technique Tuesday friend promised us "calzones as big as our heads" for dinner. Being unfamiliar with downtown Phoenix, I had to just trust her. I didn't trust her enough.
I had planned on splitting my calzone with Shelby, from Embellish It!. I was told that I needed more people to share it with. But Shelby and I assured everyone that we were pretty hungry. We thought we were up for the challenge. We were, of course, quite wrong...
and yes, that is the one and only size available on the menu. Holy freaking meatball! Now that's a calzone. Make that a cal-end-zone.
Needless to say, we left a large portion of said calzone untouched!
I had to go back to the convention center after dinner to do a little QK giveaway at the Friday Night Crop - and then it was back to the east valley to sleep in my own bed.
Saturday was basically more of the same, except that I had the teen and the boy with me in the morning. It was fun to hear what their reaction was to the scrapbook convention..."THIS is what you do when you leave town?", "are there always this many people?", "mom, can I have $5 for another bag of fried doughnuts?" It was a great morning. We put them both to work - the boy did the pricing of all the new inventory and the teen knows as much about QK demos as I do. Plus, I made it worth their while - so everyone went home happy!
Big surprise in store for the Keuter kids tonight. I won't even give them any clues and it's just killing them. Check back tomorrow for the photos. It's going to be a great night...I just know it!
until then - - -

It was good to see you on Saturday! It was also kinda funny to see your teen, looking bored at a booth by herself. I was like, huh, I think I know her, but from WHERE??? And we had just had that conversation too.
I have to ask where you got those calzones. They're enormous! I'll admit though, I didn't read that word as calzones the first time. I read it as the spanish word for underwear... as in UNDERWEAR as big as your head! I was like, what the heck were they doing? Ha ha!
